Sold! – Sitala

I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I’d sold a story to Dark Fuse Magazine (it’ll be available soon). This week I got another acceptance, this time for a science fiction story called Sitala. The sale is to Fighting Monkey Press for the third anthology in their UnCommon series – UnCommon Minds. I appeared in the first in the series – UnCommon Bodies and it was a very varied and interesting collection with lots of excellent stories. The second anthology, UnCommon Origins was even better, and I’ve got no reason to think this one won’t surpass that. As for my story, I was very happy with how it turned out so I was quite nervous about the submission. I’m incredibly pleased Fighting Monkey liked it as much as I do. I can’t wait for you to read it. No idea what the publishing timeline is yet. Sign up for my newsletter and get four free ebooks. CLICK HERE to get started. So far this year, I’ve submitted short stories to magazines and anthologies fourteen times. Last weekend I got my second acceptance. My very short story, The Ride will be published at Dark Fuse Magazine. I’m very pleased this one has found a home and Dark Fuse put out some quality fiction so I’m in good company. I’ll be sure to post the link to the story here once it’s available in early November. Incidentally, Dark Fuse currently have an offer on their one year subscription. For $60 you get a year of Dark Fuse Magazine (normally $40) plus all the ebooks Dark Fuse publish in that year. Given that they guarantee at least 24 titles that’s a good deal if you’re into dark fiction. Sign up for my newsletter and get a year of stories, completely free. CLICK HERE to get started. Coming Soon – The Girl in the Wilderness

About eighteen months ago I released my science fiction novella, The Girl in the City, and it’s almost time for the sequel to join it on the virtual bookshelves. I hadn’t planned on making The Girl in the City the first in a series. It’s a standalone story with no real loose ends (beyond wondering what happens next in the characters’ lives), but I kept coming back to Leah’s story and readers seemed to have an appetite for more, so towards the end of last year I decided to write two more novellas. As usual, that idea went out of the window pretty quickly and the sequels quickly turned into full length novels which means I’m spending a lot longer on them than I’d planned. C’est la vie. The second book, The Girl in the Wilderness, will officially be available exclusively on Kindle on October 4th but it’s actually available for pre-order right now.  The Girl in the Wilderness will be selling at an introductory price of 99c for a while until it gets its sales-legs and then it will go up to the normal price of $2.99. To celebrate the launch, I’ll also be giving away The Girl in the City from October 4th to October 8th. So, if you haven’t bought that … Read More
